Today’s Scripture… “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life?
It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” – James 4:14
Thoughts for Today… In two days tomorrow will be yesterday. I want you to stop and think about that for just a moment. Let it sink in. Understand what I am saying here……in two days tomorrow will be yesterday. “Well, that’s a neat thought,” you may be thinking, “But, what’s your point?”
My point is this: time doesn’t slow down for anyone. You and I simply must make the most of every moment of our lives and not waste an ounce of the time the Lord gives us here on earth. You see, time is *invaluable*. It is priceless. Every millisecond is of utmost worth. Think about it…
…to realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.
…to realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby.
…to realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.
…to realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the husband and wife who are waiting to meet after a month apart.
…to realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask the person who missed the bus.
…to realize the value on ONE SECOND, ask the person who just avoided an
…to realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver
medal in the Olympics.
You see, EVERY millisecond of our lives is priceless. No moment can ever be repeated. No time spent can ever be regained. James says that our lives are like a “vapor” that is here for a moment and then
disappears in an instant.
If you and I are going to hug our children or tell our parents “I love you,” then we’d better do it now. If we are going to offer that word of encouragement to that depressed neighbor, then we’d better not waste time. If we are going to share the Gospel with that lost co-worker, then today is the day. If we are going to serve the Lord and impact others for the Kingdom of God, then we don’t have a millisecond to lose.
Friend, is there something that you have been *planning* on doing, but never have gotten around to doing? Is there something special the Lord has laid on your heart that you know needs your immediate attention? Do you know of someone who needs a hug and a “I love you” today? Whatever the Lord has been speaking to you about the last few days, don’t put it off any longer. Life is a vapor. And then it’s gone…
…as abruptly as this blog ends.
