Today’s Scripture… “So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.” — Luke 14:33
Thoughts for Today… Anything less than 100% just isn’t enough.
When you visit your favorite book store, do you look for a portion of a book? It would be kind of odd to march up to the cashier and say, “yes, I would like Chapters 1, 5 and 18 of this book, and the foreword, please.” It wouldn’t be exactly what it was supposed to be would it?
What about your vehicle? Do you want just parts of your automobile, but not the whole thing? Another kind of odd thing would be to look out into your garage and see a couple of air bags, a passenger’s seat and a transmission, but nothing else. It wouldn’t really serve its purpose would it?
What if it was payday at your workplace and you only received a portion of your wages?
What if you looked in the mirror and your nose, one eye and half of your teeth were missing in action?
What if you were preparing to call a friend on the telephone only to find that several of the numbers you need weren’t there any longer?
There are some things where anything less than 100% just isn’t enough.
And one of those is YOUR life. You see, when Jesus calls you to follow Him, He wants all of you. He doesn’t want just a few chapters, He wants the whole book of your life. Jesus doesn’t call you in fractions, wanting a few portions — He wants every bit of you. Nothing is to be left out. Nothing is to be held out. You are to surrender it all and lay it all out for Jesus Christ to use as He wills.
One of the biggest problems in the church today is the fact that so many Christians are parking air bags and transmissions in the garage of Christianity, when Jesus is looking for the full vehicle. It’s time that believers stop holding back in their relationship with the Lord… and give Him everything they have.
Friend, what about you? Is there some area that you have refused to let go of? Is there something that you have not yet fully surrendered to the Lord? Are you completely and totally sold out to Jesus?
Jesus wants you to walk with Him in a close, intimate relationship every day of your life. He wants you to serve Him and honor Him in what you say and do. He wants you to yield your life into His hands to mold and shape as He desires. And anything less than 100% of you isn’t good enough.
Surrender it all to Him today. Give Him the whole book, the whole vehicle……the whole you.
