Today’s Scripture… “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a
preacher?” Romans 10:14
Thoughts for Today… Most every day I write email messages. Not only do I send several email messages each day, but I receive many email messages each day also.
And I need to respond personally to a great many of them, which can be rather time consuming. What I do in order to manage my email time as best I can is to sit down at my
desk, type out as many of my devotions as I can for that month and store them under a file until I’m ready to actually SEND the message for that day. So, I write out the devotions, and I prepare the message. I do everything I am supposed to do in order to write the words that folks on the other end are waiting to hear. If I stopped right here, things would be bad, huh? I mean, if I just wrote the message, but I didn’t actually send the message, then it wouldn’t accomplish its purpose, would it? So, after I finalize the message, I do the same thing time after time after time. I connect to the internet, and I click the SEND button…
…and I send the message.
Friend, God may not be sitting at His desk in front of His computer in heaven…but He is preparing messages to send. It begins with the Gospel — the Good News of Jesus Christ. God has prepared a message. He has written it in the Word, and on the hearts of His Children. He also has messages of comfort. Messages of peace and hope. Messages of encouragement and instruction and guidance. Messages of correction and warning. And, in every single case, regardless of what message He intends to send, there are folks on the other end who are waiting to hear, and in many cases, in desperate need to hear.
What if it stopped right here? What if God prepared the Gospel message but no one delivered it? What if God wanted to encourage your next door neighbor or comfort your co-worker or offer guidance to that confused teenager…
…and no one was willing to carry the message to those who are longing to hear?
You see, here’s the situation. God uses YOU and God uses me to be His messengers. He has given us the tremendous privilege of sharing His Word to the waiting world. In other words, when God clicks the SEND button, He chooses to use YOU and me to send the message.
Friend, are you willing to share the message? I am convinced of this: if you are willing to be used of God today to offer His Words to those around you, He is willing to give you something to share.
It may be the Gospel to some lost soul. It may be a word of encouragement to a depressed, dejected co-worker, or a comforting shoulder for a hurting, lonely neighbor.
Chances are, God may be telling you something right now that He wants you to share with someone that you know. And, if not, He may very well speak to you during this day, that you might speak with someone else.
What will you do today? Will you follow the Lord’s leading and bring the Good News to those who are waiting to hear?
Whatever He leads of us today, may our words and deeds be quick to respond. And to always…
…send the message of Christ.
